Description: 1920 Sublimely Chic Vintage Jazz Age Ad-Fashionable Flappers Take Tea in Smartly Styled Betty Wales Dresses Amfro and Haskell Coffin Artwork. Utterly Charming Original Vintage Jazz Age Ad taken from the pages of a March, 1920 issue of Ladies Home Journal Magazine. A trio of sublimely chic faultelssly fashionable flappers take tea in the latest finery from the Betty Wales Dress Co. Delicate and charmingly girlish gowns with the new shorter post-war hemline in silks, chiffons, velvets and laces- note the relative simplicity of the white gown trimmed in pink girdle at the waist of the beautiful lines of the navy blue day dress in velevet trimmed at the hemline in rakish red braid- or the delicacy and sweet quaint charm of the pale blue lavender and pink tea-gown- all designed for the Betty Wales Dress Co for the younger set or smaller woman. Betty Wales created some incredibly pretty ads during the Jazz Age using a name familiar to the public through as series of exceptionally popular girls college novels of a generation earlier. This is a lovely iamge of the new flapper stylish if a little daring. Note that the women wear the newest pointy-toed show with high Baby Louis heels and that each frock ends moe than eight inches above the heel- short yet not nearly as high as the hemline will creep by the middle of the decade. Ad measures 12 x 17- in bright good overall condition- inset drawing of Betty Wales by Haskell Coffin, remainder of illustration done by Amfro. Will be a delightfully elegant bit of antique charm sure to enhance any decor!
