Description:
1920 Sensational Rare Vintage Jazz Age Ad- Selznick Pictures Create Happy Hours Early Color Movie Set Image. Gorgeous Original Vintage Jazz Age Ad taken from the pages of a May, 1920 issue of Ladies Home Journal. Beautiful and Rare image of the early Selznick Studios, run by mogul, Louis J. Selznick, father of impresario David O. Selznick dates back to the nascent days of film studio history when most filmmakers operated out of New York and New Jersey. He created a mood and an unforgettable logo "Selznick Pictures Create Happy Hours." Here the viewer is invited into the magic back-scene world of a film studio where pretty yet unmentioned actresses "emote" to the cameras with the note "Taking a Selznick picture". For Selznick, the film took precedence over the actors, serving as a reminder audiences that it would only get first-rate, flawless movies from their studio. Rare ad- the studio closed its doors after a brief success in the early twenties- not before helping shape the career of Lewis's infamous son David O. Ad is in clean bright condition overall- a bit of darkening to the edges otherwise beautiful- measures 11 x 16- fantastic early film ad which will enhance any decor it finds itself within.
