Rare and Exceptionally Elegant Original Vintage Jazz Age/Deco Ad taken from the pages of a March, 1920 issue of Ladies Home Journal Magazine. A lovely setting for a perfect image of the ideal new woman of the dawning Deco period- radiant, graceful and daring young blonde admires her image in a long gilt-trimmed mirror- due in large fact to the immaculate state of her lace, satin and chiffon dancing dress cleaned with new Ivory Soap Flakes. This is the flapper- complete with shorter skirts, higher heels and a frock whose figure skimming exposed neck and shoulder-line must have shocked- if not scandalized- the older folks at the dance! Artist Norman Price has created a sensational image with superb use of luxury and elegance filled with texture, color and drama as well. His Narcissa is enamored of the radiant image glancing back at her perfectly prepared for the thrills romance and daring adventures yet to arrive. Ad is rare- measures 12 x 16 condition is bright and good overall- some edgewear and browning at the bottom. I have never seen this Ivory Soap ad in over twenty-five years of collecting them.
