Description: 1919 Elegant Jazz Age Ad- Stunning Maiden wears Luxite Hosiery with Handsome Naval Hero in Wheelchair Coles Phillips Artwork. Absolutely Beautiful Rare Original Vintage Jazz Age Ad in Superb Color taken from an issue of Ladies Home Journal Magazine. Artist Coles Phillips utilized a brilliant color palette which suggests the harmony of saffron sky and sapphire waves melding it with his typical air of romance and a note of patriotic historical intrigue- his lovely maiden is standing by a recent handsome young naval hero in a wheel chair. World War One had recently ended and this is an interesting reminder of it's aftermath. Coles Phillips has used a light palette to suggest the whispering wind-tossed look of chiffon and satin in gray beautifully complimenting the deep hues of sea and sky not to mention the sparkling white naval uniform of the gent. Phillips inimitable sense of drama and glamour are captured wonderfully here as is his incredible eye for detail- note the shine of the perfectly laced perforated holed shoes and the intricate design on the back of her frock. Ad is simply exquisite in person measures 11 x 16 and will be marvelous on display! One of the more obscure of Coles Phillips ads.
