Description:
1919 Elegant Vintage Jazz Age Ad- Vivadou's Mavis Talc and Perfume is Irresistible! Superb Fred. L. Packer Artwork. Absolutely Stunning Original Vintage Jazz Age Ad taken from the pages of an April, 1919 issue of Ladies Home Journal Magazine. Richly Hues and with a marvelous sense of absurdity, splendor and humor, this ad is seen the best advantage in the larger format pages used by many magazines of this inimitably chic period. Artist Fred L. Packard uses a combination of brightly hued colors of orange and sky blue against a stark background of deep black with fantastic product placement the perfume and talcum powder are at the bottom of the page in their vivid scarlet shades- also seen on a tray being carried by a footman and in the background as vases for some exceptionally exotic pink blooms. Packer includes a chic lady of fashion posed and twirling in front of the glass in a divine pink dancing frock with Wedgwood Blue walls paneled in oval shaped pictures of delightful fancy- fairy-tale imagery in similar shadings of maidens lounging on terraces, lakeside and in Marie Antoinette ensembles. Wonderful example of a look which would be come Art Deco within a few short years. Artist Packer's works for Mavis transcended mere advertising and became absolutely glorious artistic imagery. image measures 12 x 17 the condition is crisp and bright with some minor war to the margin.
