Description:
1917 Vintage Jazz Age Ad- Exquisitely Rare Palmolive Soap Cleopatra's Vision. Absolutely Incredible Original Vintage Jazz Age Color Ad taken form the pages of an early 1917 issue of Ladies Home Journal Magazine. Unknown artist has magically conjured up an alluringly mystical site- the inimitably beautiful Queen of Egypt Cleopatra lying on a dais quietly observing the creation of some wonderful unguents- green mists rise up to the heavens and gigantic bars of Palmolive are born. Cleopatra's popularity during the Jazz Age is unmistakable- she was often called upon to remind clever feminine viewers of the absolute imperative of staying young and radiantly beautiful. During the last halcyon days of the Belle Epoque, Palmolive Soaps and Shampoos utilized her shimmering exquisite glamour to promote their products- perhaps never more enticingly than in this dazzling color image. Artist has included fabulous detailing- the colors are bright bold and stunning- the servants look as if they belong in the background of a De Mille Epic, the white of the building- with it's fabulous Hieroglyphics creates a harmonizing contrast to the strong shades of midnight blue, purple, deep pink and soft hazy greens of the piece. Note the beautiful inlaid carving of the gilded couch she lounges majestically upon. This ad is in good crisp shape overall- very sharp and colorful in person. Measures 12 x 17- a rare image that will not be seen again soon. Among the most alluring, spectacular modern images of Cleopatra you will find. Will be hauntingly lovely on display with any decor!
