Description:
1916 Regal Vintage Jazz Age Ad- Simplex Autos offers Motordom's Modern Magnificence Louis Fancher Artwork. Stunningly Chic Original Jazz Age Ad taken from the pages of an August, 1916 issue of Life Magazine. Exceptional Artist Fancher has created an ad that is a model of perfection in form, line and color. This rare and wonderful ad for the short-lived Simplex Automobile features a chic woman in black and tan standing in the shadows overlooking the sand colored motor- nice perspective and a touch of whimsy in his unusual color combination of deep smoky purple, tan and green. Artist Fancher's style here predates the Art Deco Movement yet is absolutely in step with it's aims towards modernity and a new pace in chic. It is rare to find works that so perfectly symbolize the shape of things to come while remaining completely current- note the precision of line and stature of the smart driver! Absolutely fantastic in person and a rare example of the inimitable look of Fancher who would go on to create spectacular Propagandist Poster Art during World War One, followed by a twenty-five year span of painting stunning Hollywood Movie Posters for MGM! Largely unknown today he was among a select, creative intuitive and talented group of artists and illustrators- (including Helen Dryden), who helped both to create and popularize the Art Deco Movement in America. Note the simplicity and elegance of even the ad-copy the 6 cylinder chassis viewed here sold for the then staggering sum of $5, 000. Ad measures 9 x 12 and is in crisp clean bright condition overall.
