Description:
1910 Delineator Fashion Page- Entrancing Edwardian Maidens wear Fetching Frocks in Semi-Princess Style for Summer. Simply Splendid Original Color Vintage Late Edwardian Fashion Page taken from the pages of an August, 1910 issue of Delineator Magazine. Beautiful Belles sport stunning daytime frocks for an elegant garden party one in white and pink trimmed at the neck and wrists with frills and rose pink detailing for the scooped neckline waist and cuffs- note the long lean look of the dress, the relative simplicity and slightly raised hemline- the blonde also wears newly Marcel-waved hair- a French imported innovation in coiffure at the time topped by a large back straw hat embellished with bright pink feathers. Her equally chic companion wears a slightly more formal frock in deep blue chiffon over mull for the waist with a long-necked collar of white her brunette hair also appears to be Marcel-waved and topped by a beautiful natural straw hat with the brim trimmed in the same lovely shade of blue as the gown violets and dramatic white feathers. Note the square neck which can be worn with or without the elaborate high collar underneath and the matching parasol. Fashion plates of the time were often unsigned and allowed the reader to imagine herself creating and wearing the garments described. Largely pattern magazines such as Delineator and McCall's reached an enormous readership and helped to promote the latest and most wonderful attire which Paris and New York had to offer. Page is in excellent condition- very bright in person. These images were done on thicker glossy quality paper and even after nearly a century look as delightfully bright and stunning as they did upon the opening of the original magazine. A perfect example of the swift changes in style during and immediately after the Edwardian period when women were swept up in the maelstrom of changes which helped to form a modern identity. Measures 12 x 17- absolutely gorgeous in person!
