Stunning Original Alluring Rare Tinted Photo Image of radiantly glamorous and dramatic queen of Broadway, Madame Alla Nazimova. Taken during the height of her popularity and photographed by Hallen of New York exclusively for the wonderful Burr-Mcintosh Monthly, this is an example of the perfection of grace, charm and sensual exoticism that was Alla Nazimova- an actress who had no equal in her day. Notable for both light comedy and lush tragedy, Nazimova was among the first actresses to bring the works of Checkov and Ibsen to American audiences, transferred her mystique from the Broadway stage to the new world of Hollywood and had legions of fans and admirers during an incredible career than spanned over fifty years of Broadway theater history. This image hints at her somewhat enchantingly weird allure- she poses with arms outstretched against a marble fireplace in a dazzling pink and golden gown that froths about her feet which touch down upon- what else a tiger skin rug! Image was done for the art journal Burr-McIntosh, one of the best Art Nouveau publications featuring advanced photography as artwork and specializing in images of theater folk for a brief period that basically encompassed the glamourous, grandiose Edwardian period. The image-like it's source is rare indeed and delightful in person. Condition overall is excellent- three holes at side exist where it was carefully removed form the original source. Very bright and clean in person- measures 9 x 12. This would make a fabulous addition to any collection- or might serve to introduce you or a friend to one of the absolute luminaries of Broadways Golden Era!
