Description:
1909 Elegant Vintage Edwardian Sheet Music- Persistent Suitor Tells Fetching Maiden I've Got Your Number!/Words and Music by Alfred Bryan and Geo W. Meyer. Simply Wonderful Original Vintage Edwardian Era Sheet Music published by Haviland in New York, 1909. Unknown artsit has captured the subtle charms of flirtation and flattery in the ever-popular battle of the sexes circa 1909- lovely young woman in very fashionable frock is pursued by persistent won;t give up gent who insists that she will eventually capitulate and tell him where she lives and what her number is. The common use of the telephone during the early days of the twentieth century gave rise to many popular comedic romantic interpretations often in a musical setting. The "new" woman seen here is fresh and delightfully modern enough to hold her own in the oft-challenging waters of in the dating world. Great somewhat suggestive lyrics are a riot to read. Artist signature is the simple EPC- subtle lovely use of color with the original singer on the cover underneath a busily knocking cupid a natty Jack Chandler. Sheet music is complete with cover attached and five complete pages. One of literally hundreds of novelty songs created at the infamous Tin Pan Alley during the late Edwardian period.
