1908 Vintage Art Nouveau Era Postcard Charming Howard Chandler Christie card-playing couple A Winning Hand. Lovely original Vintage Art Nouveau romantic image done in the superbly elegant style of artist Christy with his usual delicate touch. Art Nouveau/Edwardian viewers adored images which hinted playfully at romance such as this one. Christie presents an ardent young couple in formal attire taking an opportunity for a quick hand-holding moment during a card game. note that the young lady has a pale pink blush on her alabaster cheeks and wears a frilly feminine white frock worn low on the shoulders with a pink satin
bow at the waist- darling. Postcard is divided back and undated about 1908 published by Moffat, Yard and Co. Overall condition is good- some darkening in general darkening to the background which is now a light cream tone not white. A beautiful example of the graceful dignity of artist Howard Chandler Christy who specialized in images of couples and adorable women and went on to create some of the most well-known World War One recruitment posters. A nice addition to nay collection!
