Description:
What an exciting gift for the seamstress/collector in your circle! This incredible sewing box has all the acoutrements; even down to the needles, ivory darning tools, sterling crochet hook and needle threader. The accessories while relative to the period, are not original to the box. They were added at various times; as is common for all sewing box implements. The box was made in Chester, England and the exquisite crochet hook was made in Birmingham, England; both ca1900. The top of this beautiful box is padded to serve as a pin cushion and it is encased with gorgeous Victorian sterling trim displaying two blank hearts that would be a beautiful spot for engraving that most remembered message. There never was a more perfect gift for the dressmaker who cherishes the earliest representations of his/her craft. Buy it at Chancery Lane Antiques, Inc. $575.00.
