DESCRIPTION OF THIS EBAY SALE:
This was acquired out of a Central Ohio area previous estate, home or sale. WOW!!!!! Check out the last 2 photos below The Larkin Furniture tag is usually missing on these because they usually oxidize and fall off over the years. They made 3 or 4 different Hooded Larkin Secretary Desks back during the turn of the century around 1900-10. THIS ONE IS THE EXTRA GRADE AND IS NUMBER # 19 and you can see this on the tag that is nicely displayed on the back of this Larkin Furniture Secretary Bookcase Desk. Again this is a well thought after full column Hooded and Claw Feet with BEVEL and LEADED GLASS. They made a lower grade that did not have the bevel glass but it was leaded. This has nice quartersawn Oak throughout and a nice old back (see last photo). The bevel mirror is in great shape as well as the lead in the door. This is 69 inches tall, 43 inches wide and 15 inches front to back. The bevel mirror is 29 inches wide and 5 ½ inches tall. The shelf below the mirror is 39 inches wide and above the curved door is 14 ½ inches front to back and above the leaded door is 8 ½ inches front to back. The curved door is 16 inches on a curve wide and 47 inches tall. The 3 removable shelves are 16 ½ inches wide and 13 inches front to back. The bevel leaded door is 19 inches wide and 10 ¾ inches tall. The drop lid is 19 inches wide x 13 ¾ inches. The 3 drawers with the original brass hardware are 18 inches wide, 19 ¾ inches front to back and have depths of 5 ¼ and 6 inches deep. IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR THE EXTRA GRADE #19 LARKIN HOODED WELL THOUGHT AFTER BOOKCASE SECRETARY DESK WITH THE CURVED GLASS DOOR AND BEVEL LEADED DOOR, YOU HAVE FOUND IT!!! THESE DON'T COME UP THAT OFTEN. I'LL GUARANTEE THAT YOUR GUESTS WILL COME IN AND GO "OOOHHH" AND "AAAHHH" OVER IT. IT'S A NICE ONE, SO DON'T MISS OUT!!! T are no apologies for this item--it just needs a new owner and a new home. OHIO RESIDENTS ONLY, YOU MAY BE SUBJECT TO PAY STATE SALES TAX.
THIS PIECE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION FOR IT'S AGE. But, if I was this old, I would have a few bumps and bruises on me as well. The majority of the furniture items that we sell are considered antique pieces which range in age from 50 to 250 years old. Some pieces will have bumps, bruises, or normal wear because of the age. Of course, you're not buying a new piece, and this item, if it has original varnish, could need a cleaning to the winning bidder's liking. You are buying this item in the condition that we receive it in. We base our expertise and knowledge on a lifetime of appraisal work in the Columbus and central Ohio area. Most items are acquired out of local estates.
