Description:
This lovely oak 18th century trunk was hand-crafted in England. The oak has developed a lovely patina and grain over the past 200+ years. The front has (4) panels with low-relief carvings on each one. The shaped skirt adds even more beauty reminiscent of days gone by. A charming heart-shaped heavily patinated solid-brass escutcheon and key adorn the front of this piece. And patinated solid-brass edge clamps serve as the hinge for the top. The interior is quite spacious at 21" deep. This trunk can be used at the foot of a bed for storage of winter clothing and blankets or important keepsakes. There are a few age splits on the top which have been repaired and some minor superficial imperfections which are appropriate in a piece over 200 years old. Part of one edge clamp is missing however the top remains firmly attached. Otherwise this piece is in very good condition. It is as functional as it is beautiful, and should make an excellent addition to your home.
