Description: 18th Century Aubusson Tapestry This Aubusson tapestry was found in a petite private chateau in France. The bottom of the tapestry was inserted into wainscoting (low wooden paneling). It has the classical landscape scenery with castles, village scenes, birds, and abundant teal green foliage. A two tone border surrounds the entire tapestry and a floral border is on the top and two sides. This piece was originally the center section of a much larger tapestry. We had to dismantle it for restoration, and we now have 3 sections in very good structural condition. At some point in its history, before we acquired it, some restoration was replaced with different color weave in some spots (shown above). Please see the other two tapestries if you are interested in a set. H=102, W=98 1/2 Please contact us if you would like photos, video, or more information. Thank you, Le Louvre French Antiques
