Description:
This lovely little mahogany longcase clock dates from the late 18th Cent. It is by John Turnbull of Hawick (Scottish Borders). It is a lovely small size that would fit in a cottage or modern home.It stands on nicely shaped bracket feet, has a long door and attractive dentil molding below the hood. The hood has slim turned columns with brass capitals below an elegant swan neck pediment with brass patria and a fluted brass finial.The good quality 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell and has a particularly attractive silvered dial with a hunting seen to the arch. It also has subsidiary seconds and date dials.The case is in excellent condition and has retained its original wax polished finish.
