Faint TM or JM monogram, possibly from the service of Thomas Mason. From Schiffer's China for America: "Thomas Mason of Philadelphia and Charleston was a ship's captain of some notoriety. During the American Revolution, he risked a trip to France with introductions and connections through Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin and brought back gun powder for the American army. The majority of pieces attributed to the Mason Family remain in the Mason family today.
