Description:
This white ironstone sugar bowl with lid is marked Stone China, J. W. Pankhurst, Hanley and made between 1850 and 1852.The Star Flower Shape is gently ribbed on both the lid and base. Floral decoration consists on tiny blooms connected as a chain along the edges of the vessel, top and bottom. The lid has the same chain along with a dramatic oversized fruit or gourd finial with foliates below. Scroll handles on each end have foliates under them. It is 7 1/2" tall and 6" wide. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Remember this sugar bowl is 159 to 161 years old and still around to be enjoyed for many more years. I believe this wonderful sugar bowl will continue to appreciate in value, as well as give great pleasure and pride of ownership to anyone fortunate enough to own it. We also have up for sale the matching coffee pot.
