Description: A good 1822 pattern Infantry Officer’s Sword by Wilkinson, No: 27238. The sword has a 33 inch single edged blade which has been officially sharpened and is etched with the VR cipher beneath a crown. It is also etched with a family crest, a stags head with the family name: W Prouting Roberts. The hilt is of gothic style made of brass with wire bound fish skin grip. The quillon is bent, probably in action. Contained in its original steel scabbard with wear to the chape (which indicates that it was in frequent use).
