Description:
Circa 1820-1840 Chinese Export A Very Rare Orang Fitzhugh Platter measuring 16" X 13". Fresh out of a very important estate in Charlottesville, Virginia--"the home of Thomas Jefferson, Monticello". This platter is not in Pristine Condition. This platter has black marks on it which was done in the making of this beautiful old fitzhugh platter. Additional images are available upon request. The images shown below show the sections that have these black marks. There were a couple of chips on the rim of this platter when we purchased them, But we have had the chipos professionally restored. BUT in the process of the making of these platters show black pitted marks which happened in the firing in the kiln when they were made in the Early 19TH. Century. More images with close up detail may be requested by interested parties. Fitzhugh came in seven colors with the color blue being the more noticeable and made more than all the other colors. The other colors were green, orange, raspberry, yellow, sepia and the rarest of all is black.
