Description:
This historically important map was issued in 1817 for the Treaty of Ghent, which defined the northern border of the United States with Canada. This is part one of a two sheet set. Depicts the St. Lawrence River from Sheak Island to Bug Island, including Barnhart Island, Cornwall Island, and Hog Island. Some villages, such as the Village of Cornwall and the Village of St. Regis are also shown in addition to a few Indian settlements. Map is officially titled No. 1 Iroquois or St. Lawrence. Measures 14 x 25 inches. Map is dated 1817, but I think it is an 1845 reprint. Generally very good condition with some discoloration on the folds. Maps are great gifts and perfect decorative additions to any home or office. They are compelling objects that instantly grab peoples attention and transport them to a different time and place.
