Chancery Lane Antiques is delighted to offer a pair of extremely fine, rare, silver Georgian wine coolers to the discerning collector. The hallmarks are clear: lion passant - sterling silver; crown - Sheffield, England; duty mark, date mark "R" - 1813-14 and sponsor's mark "TJC" - Thomas & James Creswick. Each cooler measures approximately 10 1/4 inches tall, 10 1/2 inches wide from handle to handle, while the base diameter is 5 3/4 inches and the depth is approximately 5 3/8 inches in the liner to the coolers. One wine cooler weighs approximately 77.74 troy ounces; the second cooler weighs approximately 79.21 troy ounces. The total weight is 156.95 troy ounces or 10.76 pounds. The handsome pair are decorated with gadrooning, fluting and two fixed cross-tied grape vine shaped handles. The handles are further embellished with fruit. Each has a separate liner to keep the wine bottle cool and dry. The liner has an averted collar that is removable. Both coolers have a crest with "Libertas Et Natal Solum" engraved upon it.
