Description:
Macungie, Pennsylvaia was founded in 1776 by Peter Miller. Offered here is a an early land survey map, known as a draught map, drawn just after the American Revolution, which states, “By virtue of a Warrant dated the 14 August 1752 Surveyed the 29th January 1785 to Peter Miller, the above described tracts of lands situate in Macungie Township in the County of Northampton containing seventy-eight acres…”
The document, approximately 8” x 6 ½” contains a nicely executed draught map and is signed by John Romich. The map illustrates areas owned by a number of early settlers including George Spiegel, George Litzenberger, Jacob Stephen, Casper Bastiand, Peter Crocks, Michael Hiskey, Adam Epler, George Good and Henry Burtz.
On rag laid paper, the document contains an uneven left margin, affecting nothing, and is in very good condition. A fine piece of early Pennsylvania history.
