Description:
This map is an engraving of Macao dating to 1750 by French cartographer Jacques Nicholas Bellin. It depicts the Island of Macao in full as well as several other important islands on the Canton coast including the Chinese village of Quang-Tchew-Fu Canton. Also depicts Tiger Island, Luitem, and interesting features such as the Lion Tower, and the mouth of the Fokien River. Because this is a navigational map, some oceanic depths are indicated. Fine or perfect condition. Measures 8.5 x 11 inches. Maps are great gifts and perfect decorative additions to any home or office. They are compelling objects that instantly grab peoples attention and transport them to a different time and place. Owning an antique map is much like owning a window into the past. An antique map can be a veritable passage back in time, allowing one to imagine the world much as the mapmaker himself did 100, 200 or even 300 years ago!
