Attention, June birthday girls! Goodoletom is pleased to offer this adorable yellow gold ring set with a 6 mm cultured white pearl. It comes in a cute little gift box shaped like a red apple.

Pearl is a birthstone for the month of June. Pearls have historically always been associated with the moon and the sea. They were referred to as "the queen of Gems" and until the 20th century were so costly that only the most wealthy had access to them.

The famous queen of Egypt, Cleopatra bet Marc Antony she could give the most expensive dinner in history. As Antony watched the queen sat with an empty plate and a goblet of wine (or vinegar). She crushed one large pearl from her pair of earrings, dissolved it in the liquid and drank it down. Now that was an expensive meal!!!

In the early 1900s, Japanese entrepreneur, Kokichi Mikimoto began successfully culturing saltwater pearls since the early 20th century using a process that was kept secret for over many years. The oysters were implanted with tiny beads made of mother or pearl and a tiny bit of mantle flesh from another oyster. They are carefully tended in floating racks to enable easier harvesting and care. Poor Oysters!!!!

This same process produces many of the pearls available today. Because cultured pearls are more round and lustrous than most wild pearls, they are very desirable for jewelry.

The ring is in very good condition. The pearl is not scratched or damaged. It is half drilled and prong mounted in a stamped 14K setting which fits a 7 1/2 ring size, and does not appear to have been previously sized. It weighs 0.185 troy ounces (5.7 grams).
