Description: 4pp. letter from Jonas Fuller of the 141st Pennsylvania Infantry, Company A. Written in ink and datelined ""Camp Near Pools Ville / Meryalland Oct the 22, 1862,"" letter reads in part: "".I have just came of patroal guard and washed my selfe. It is quite colde and windy.I must tel you that Charley and I shipped John Washburn for John Allen and now I think I have the best kind of tent mates. Ower regt did not cross the river as some thought it would, but staid whare we wer until the next day then marched back twords Poolsville. We arrived in ower present camp last Sunday and I for one have got recruited up a good deal. We drill the same we did at Prescot Smith. In ower march from Prescot Smith to Poolsville was a force march of 20 miles a day. Mebby you think just as I did that it could be done like a nice but I tel you when you come to get Co. weight on your shoulders and by the time you get 20 miles you wil tiard enough to lay down and rest and besides we had two days rations to carry. We did not have enny thing to eat for two days and then was the time I thought of the old log house.Wel the rebbles crossed the river and made a breach in the canal. They say that the rebbles are starving condition. I think they wil thrash before they wil starve and they have stacks of grain and hay all over the hills.it would have ben an easy matter for them to carred it across the river."" Jonas Fuller mustered into Company A on 18 August 1862 and died at Leesburg, Virginia on 2 November 1863. The 141st Pennsylvania saw action at Second Bull Run, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg and Peach Orchard. Letter measures 5"" x 8"".
