4pp. letter from Jonas Fuller of the 141st Pennsylvania Infantry, Company A. Ink letter datelined ""Camp Prescot Sept the 28 1862,"" reads in part: "".Father you sed that you passed examineation and would have to stand the draft. I want you or mother to write soon as you get this. I think the doctor that pass you had ought to be court mashald, but I shall hope fore the best and think that you have ben exempted. Ower regt has ben moved a mile from ower olde camp which was in sight of Washington. I was on advance guard yesterd. Laste night a bout midnight orders came for us to advance about 2 miles. We marched through woods and briar patches until we came to Bailes Cross Roads whare the officer of the guard made his head quarter. We then spread out and guarded every road that was around. After my 2 ouers was up I had just come to the fiere when one of the out side cavalry pickites came galloping up and enquired for the officer of the guard. I steped back and heard him whisperd to him and tolde him to informe head quarter that Jacksons rearguard was passing within 3 miles of them and they could not form enny idea of whare the olde fellow was going. I hear cannon now and I guess they have heard some good Newes."" Jonas Fuller mustered into Company A on 18 August 1862 and died at Leesburg, Virginia on 2 November 1863. Before his death, Fuller saw action with the 141st Pennsylvania at Second Bull Run, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg and Peach Orchard. Letter measures 5"" x 8"". Overall foxing and toning, otherwise very good condition.
