Description: This mid 18th century long case clock is around 250 years old. It is in perfect working condition, accurate to within seconds per month. This clock is signed; Clockmaker, Valentine Downs of Louth, Lincolnshire England. The case is in oak and is of strikingly balanced proportions. There is an 11 1/2 inch arched brass dial with an 8 day movement featuring a second hand dial and a date wheel. On the hood, note the Corinthian capitals and the swan neck pediment. The hood is crowned by a finial between two brass patrea. The striking method is rack and Pinion on to a single bell.
