Taylor Caldwell (1900-1985) is known for her
grand and dramatic historical epics such as

Answer As a Man. She was also a
deeply spiritual person. Her talent for
historical fiction and love of religion are
combined in Dear and Glorious
Physician, her fictional telling of the life of
Saint Luke. Luke was a doctor before turning
to the vocation of healing souls. He is the
author of the Third Gospel and Acts of the
Apostles. He was a devoted friend to St. Paul
on his travels and in prison.
