He settled in Greenwich Village where his intense work with other sculptors and artists began in ernest. While in a fellow sculptor"s studio he met another artist from hippy life, Sybil Kleinrock, had also recently returned from California, and later she became his wife. Sybil was wearing one of David"s pieces, an angel belt buckle made from copper, to an art opening. The buckle caught the gallery owner"s eye, and he wanted to purchase it if it was for sale. Soon after this, David and Sybil made the decision to move to the countryside and formed Putnam Art Works. During the following decade, they both exhibited their original designs and paintings in the venue of craft fairs.
