A craggy powerful portrait. The 1/6 plate daguerreotype is from the 1840's, but the painting or its subject seems earlier. In a stippled octagonal mat, in full case with floral design, original spine intact, rose silk pad. Slight roughness in lower right. Interesting coloration as it is turned in the light.
