This is an original fruit crate label made in the 1940s. The label is for a crate of 46 lbs of Mt. Lassen Pears to be packed by James Mills Orchard Company, Hamilton City, CA USA which is 60 miles down highway 32 form Mt. Lassen Volcanic National Park. I acquired several unused crate labels from a packing house liquidator in California in the 1970s for our antique shop which closed in 2003 when we went exclusively online. The label measures 9.5 inches high by 12 inches long and was never used. The label is loose in a protective sleeve and has a cardboard support. The design is gorgeous with a drawing of the 1915 eruption of Mt. Lassen in the background with a lucsious pear in the foreground.
