The Set Is Complete For 12 People And Is Fitted In The Original 4 Drawer Cabinet. The Service Consists Of 12 Of Each Of The Following: Table Knives, Table Forks, Soup Spoons, Fish Knives, Fish Forks, Dessert Knives, Dessert Forks, Dessert Spoons, Fruit Knives, Fruit Forks, Tea Spoons & Tea Forks. The Set Also Has 6 Egg Spoons, And The Following Serving Pieces. 1 Large Soup Ladle, 2 Gravy Laddles, 1 Long Stuffing Spoon, 6 Serving Spoons, 5 Piece Meat & Fowl Carving Set, 1 Master Butter Knife, 2 Piece Fish Carvers & 3 Condiment Spoons. The Set Is Fitted Into The Oak Case With No Missing Pieces. No Monograms Or Initials. The Entire Set Is Sterling Silver, Except For The Stainless Blades On The 12 Dinner Knives, 12 Dessert Knives & The Blades Of The 5 Piece Carving Set. Each Piece Is Individually Hallmarked. .Walker & Hall was originally established in the City of Sheffield, England in 1845 by George Walker. Becoming an assistant of Dr. John Wright who had conducted important experiments on electroplating Walker secured the royalty of electroplating for Sheffield. The business was joined by Henry Hall and in 1853 the firm became Walker & Hall. The factory was at Howard Street In Sheffield where they were producing sterling silver as well as plated items, while showrooms were opened in 45 Holborn Viaduct, London. Showrooms & stores were eventually opened in Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Cardiff, Belfast, Hull, Bristol, Melbourne and Adelaide (Australia), Cape Town (South Africa). Walker & Hall was converted into a limited liability company in 1920 under the style Walker & Hall Ltd and combined in 1963 under the British Silverware Ltd with Mappin & Webb and Elkington & Co. Walker and Hall Sheffield primarily manufactured in the City Of Sheffield, but items with Birmingham, London and Chester Assay Marks can also be found. Walker & Hall under Brish Silverware ceased to manufacture in 1971, and the Walker & Hall name is now used for retail stores selling exclusive jewelry and some sterling.
