Colorecore Formica Bird Sculpture by Frank Gehry

Unavailable
his mounted bird by Frank Gehry (1929- ) was crafted from Colorcore chips from the Formica Corporation (plus balsa and cork), and dates from circa 1984-1989. It resides under glass in a period frame measuring 26 inches square and approximately 2 inches deep, and is in excellent condition. Gehry was one of a few architects and fine artists to experiment with "color-through" line of Colorcore laminates following their introduction in 1982. Gehry soon produced and marketed a limited edition of lamps in the shape of birds and snakes which were formed from Colorcore. This particular bird is a one-of- a-kind and was never placed into production. Additional images forwarded upon request. za-
