Coin Operated Solotone Entertainer Counter

Unavailable
Coin Operated Solotone Entertainer Countertop Radio Box. From the 1930-40's, made by Solotone Corp. Los Angeles, California. This is a prewar radio box that sat on counters in drug stores, soda shoppes, taverns, etc. There are two coin slots, one cent and five cent. The chrome is in very good condition, the speaker cloth is light brown and gold tweed in excellent condition, the metal label on the front has the selection knob and the volume knob, all in excellent condition. The cast metal body is in gray, with two spots on top that look like someone put a sticky price tag on. The red plastic three part top is in excellent condition. The top states " SELECT YOUR OWN ENTERTAINMENT--SOLOTONE--it's just for you!" You could "deposit 1-15 coins, 6 minutes of entertainment for 5 cents." There is no lock or key, BUT, there is a plug, where the lock went, that unscrews from the back to gain access. The units wires are inside the back and ready to be spliced together with a cord w/plug or a stereo unit or even a radio. This unit is older than most you see today, which take nickels and dimes. This will be a great addition to someone's very special collection. This unit is heavy and weighs in at 10 pounds. See photos. Have a look at my other items. Thank you for viewing.
