This is an authentic Western Union Telegraph ( No. 1 ) From Washington to Captain CC Pomeroy Jan. 06, 1864. The telegraph reads as follows: Seventy five thousand dollars(75000.00) for pay of BOUNTY were placed to your account at the US Treasury in this city on Nov. 20, you can draw on the US Treasury for this amount at once.- Chancery Mc Reeves. Also on back it reads Mc Reeves Chancery, Washington, Jan 6, 1864 advises of 75,000 placed to Capt. P'S count on Nov. 20, 1863. This is a great piece of American War History. I wonder whom this Bounty was placed upon. That was a lot of money back then.
