Bowie knife with spear point double edged blade and oval guard. The German silver "cutlery' style handle decorated with rococo scrolls. Each side of the blade is stamped I* XL- GEORGE WOSTENHOLMS CELEBRATED CUTLERY in five lines. This Bowie knife is very similar to the knife from the Frank Greenhall collection published in the book I*XL means I EXCEL by William R Williamson A short history of the I8XL Bowie Knife published by Robert E.P. Cherry pg23. No10. The knife is in very good condition except for some small pitting on the blade. Overall length 8 ¼ inches. Length of blade 4 ¼ Inches
