This is a vintage Chinese rice carrier with restored painted images of flowers.
The Chinese designed an elaborate array of wooden and woven baskets, boxes, and buckets to carry and store things. Some were styled around specific uses--picnics, carrying fish, rice, or water. Some were used for special occasions like carrying "sweets" to a wedding party or a Chinese New Year celebration.
