Chinese Porcelain Framed Wall Plaque Tile Painting Dream of the Red Chamber
A stunning Chinese porcelain tile plaque painting featuring a couple in a garden, signed and stamped, framed in wood.
The style of the plaque suggests that it may belong to the Qianlong Period, mid 20th century. It features a story of a young couple in a garden. The beautifully dressed woman is sitting on a wide wooden branch reading a book, while the man, also dressed in intricate traditional garments, is approaching her with hesitation. Behind them there is a blooming tree. The painting is amazingly detailed, with vibrant colors showing unusual diversity of tones and undertones, even including golden paint features. Every element in the picture - faces, clothes, trees, and other objects - is highly nuanced. The plaque has vivid white background.
The picture has a hieroglyphic inscription in black and red stamps in the upper left corner. The inscription indicates that the painting is an illustration to the masterpiece of classical Chinese literature - Dream of the Red Chamber.
The plague is in excellent condition, no chips, cracks, or defects of any kind. There isn't even visible fading to the colors. The wooden frame is of high quality and made of dark red wood. The frame is in a good condition, with only a few scuffs that are relatively minor (see pictures). There is a traditional Chinese geometric brass hanger in the back of the frame.
Frame: 17" x 12.8" (43 cm x 32.5 cm). Frame's thickness: 1" (2.5 cm). The visible part of the porcelain plaque: 14" x 10" (35.5 cm x 25 cm).
