Offered for sale is a beautifully decorated porcelain Chinese Export Mandarin Palette Punch Bowl circa 1760. This punch bowl was crafted during the Qianlong period of Chinese porcelain manufacture (1736 - 1795). In wonderful condition for its age, the bowl is decorated with two large typical Mandarin Palette figured central scenes on opposing sides. with two smaller motifs separating the larger scenes. The two large scenes feature meandering figures, possibly courtiers, conversing in gardens, and the smaller scenes highlight birds on tree branches. The interior of this bowl has a spearhead gilt border along the rim and a central flower sprig. The bowl shows remarkably little evidence of wear, though the gold on the borders does show wear from use. The finely wrought figures on the exterior show little wear. The porcelain "rings" beautifully, and there is no evidence of repair or restoration. This punch bowl measures 4 1/2" H x 10 1/4" Dia. It weighs 2 1/4 lbs. (All weight and dimension information is approximate, but as close as I can get to actual measurements.) Additional pictures are available upon request.
