"Steel Tanks in the Chemistry Lab." I think these are for sterilization. Careful composition with three workers. A rich 11 x 14 print with deep blacks.
This was from W. Eugene Smith's 1949 photo essay "Life Without Germs" published in LIFE (without germs!]
It has Smith's circular studio stamp on the verso.
Close examination shows a few extremely trivial surface marks-- very hard to see.
