This is a vintage clear pressed glass cheese dish called a Sanitary Cheese Preserver from the 1950s. The cheese dish features an internal stand. The directions are on the lid read Keep cheese in foil, parchment or waxed paper. Put plain water in bottom. Change twice weekly. Maytag Dairy Farms, Newton, Iowa. Other than usual bottom wear pattern and some manufacturing flaws in the glass there is several small interior rim chips and no cracks. This cheese keeper was used in stores as a commercial cheese dish.
