This bronze sculpture by Chaim Gross (1904-1991) is entitled Torch of Learning Award and was completed in 1970. It measures 14" high, 4" wide and 3.5" deep including its original ebonized wooden pedestal. Bronze alone measures 10" high, 3" wide and 2" deep. Depicted is a man holding upright and bent torches, the familiar logo of the Hebew University of Jerusalem. The Torch of Learning Award is conferred annually by American Friends of The Hebrew University on a member of the legal profession who has influenced the course of justice and higher learning in the United States and Israel.
