This unique wooden rocking chair is a prototype created by the noted Italian designer, Cesare Leondardi (1935-), and dates from the mid to late 1980s. It comes from his Solidi ( Solid ) series that Leonardi produced from 1983 to 1993. The front of the seat carries an incised mark and the underside is signed. Measures 46 in (117 cm) tall, 22 in (56 cm) wide, and 17 in (43 cm) deep. This line of sculptural and experimental furniture is documented in the book, Solidi: 1983-1993, by Cesare Leonardi, edited by Giancarlo Martinelli, and published in 1995 Logos (S. Damaso, Modena, Italy). It measures 46 tall, 22 wide and 17 deep, and the diameter of the lower disk is 32. Condition is good. The chair is structurally sound and the painted finish is original. There are nicks, minor dents and scratches, consistent with age. ( za- )
