Centerpiece Bowl Sterling circa 1891 pierced with flowers and leaves

This wonderful sterling centerpiece bowl was made by Theodore B. Starr and presented  on April 6th, 1891 as a wedding gift for Emily Sibley Watson and James Sibley Watson.   It is engraved on the bottom of the bowl "ESW, April 6th, 1891, from, JWH.  

Emily Sibley Watson was a member of one of the first families of Rochester, NY.   She was a generous patron of the arts, founding the Memorial Art Gallery as a memorial to her son, architect James Averell.  Read more about her contributions and her famiy at: www.fomh.org/Data/Documents/EmilySibleyWatson.pdf
