Carved top mahogany griffen oval table

Unavailable
Oval mahogany library table with a winged griffin carved base. There is a band of intricate carving around the outer edge of the top. A drawer is in the middle of one side. There is a shrinkage crack on either end of the drawer which is not visible when the drawer is closed and does not affect the functioning of the drawer (see photo). The top is supported by four full figured winged griffins, featuring intricately carved wings and front legs, bearded lion face and a wrap around tail. While the creation of this motif is most commonly attributed to R.J. Horner, New York we have seen signed pieces with nearly identical carvings made by Grand RapidsFurniture Company. Whichever company made it, it is a great example of the carved furniture of the period. It is unusual to find such a piece with an oval top. Circa: 1900 Dimensions: 30″H x 59″L x 35.5″W Finish: Fair to good original finish with some crazing and good deep original dark patina. Price: $7850.00. More photos on request
