This phenomenal chair has some of the finest carvings we have seen. The dramatic 16” tall crest of this solid oak chair has pierced carved scrolling leaves which are life like in their appearance. Notice the depth of the carvings and their three dimensional appearance – incredible!
Amazingly, there are no breaks or repairs in the crest. The tan colored fabric appears original and is in fantastic condition. There is a wonderful hand embroidered design of a basket of flowers and garlands on the seat. The embroidery is in soft greens, rust, burgundy, gold, aqua, and peach. The colors are still bright and engaging. Notice the use of brass tacks which secure the fabric. The chair is extremely comfortable due to its tall upholstered back which appears to wrap itself around the sitter. Notice the pierced carved trim along the sides and front below the seat. There is a small 1.5” piece of carved trim missing along the left back side. This is only visible upon very close inspection. The chair rests on boldly carved paw feet. The finish is original and in excellent condition having the best color and patina. What a fabulous chair that will make a statement in any room, whether it is placed with a desk, in a hall, bedroom or to grace a quiet corner.
