Carpenter's Foot Adze Antique

Unavailable

Offering this nice antique foot adze in good clean useable condition, with evidence of past rust pitting noted. It has been sharpened recently, and has good nearly straight cutting edge. The bottom is slightly or mildly rounded, not flat. The head is 9" long with a 4.5" cutting width. There is surface pitting on most all of the head, but the cutting edge, and bottom area near the cutting edge looks good, will hold a nice sharp edge. The is no damage to the steel or handle, solid not rusty. The handle appears to be Ash, may be original as it has signs of age, including some grain seperations, one long chipped off area near the middle of the handle, what is left is not cracked, but may be a good idea to replace if intended for use. We will leave this up the buyer to decide.  The handle can be easily slipped out of the head socket for storage, due to it's tapered fit in the head socket. The handle fits very tightly into the adze socket. The handle is 29" long overall. This is a nice tool overall, with plenty of use left in it.
