RARE !!! RARE !!! RARE !!!
This painted all wooden construction airplane is from an early carnival ride of the 1930/1940's. We were told it circled around on the ground probably attached to an arm, much like today's rides. The paint is still pretty bright and in good shape. It measures approximately 6 feet from nose to tail and also has a 6 foot wingspan. The wing is one board which slides through a slot in the plane. There is still some electrical wiring attached underneath which comes up through the nose and into the cockpit which controlled the lights, bells and toggle switches on the dash. The toggle switch appears to have triggered the bell inside the nose of the plane. 2 pedals in the floor board actually controlled the tail wing movement by spring and wire. The windshield is glass. The steering wheel is steel. There is obviously some minor damage to one of the rear tail wings. No one we have talked to has seen anything like it in at least 35 years. The previous owner had it in his good keeping for over 45 years. We understand that it was common practice to simply leave broken rides in the field they broke down in. So most all have just simply rotted away. Hence it's rarity.
