Calla Lily Bass Leaf Dish 1948

Unavailable

You are considering a near mint sand cast brass Virginia Metalcrafters Calla Lily leaf tray. Martha Stewart Living magazine has published 3 articles on collecting leaves made by Virginia Metalcrafters with the latest in their October 2010 issue, page 34. It is in excellent vintage condition, lacquered and gleaming. It measures 14.5" x 7". The front of the leaf has a small copyright symbol ( circle /B ) and the back of the leaf is hallmarked with the Virginia Metalcrafters foundry mark, Calla Lily, copyright 1948 and item numbers 4-5. A work of art! Horace Burns and Oskar J.W. Hansen (artist and internationally known sculptor, renown for his sculpture of the angels at the Hoover Dam) carved dozens of the patterns for these leaves. This older leaf tray has the artists initials B in a circle along with a small copyright symbol appearing on the front of the leaf. Modeled directly from nature, these leaves range in size from 3 inches to 40 inches and are actively collected today. The species of tree the leaves were taken from often appear on the back of the leaves along with the Virginia Metalcrafters or Harvin foundry marks. Please email with any questions. Always pleased to combine shipping if multiple items are won, when possible.
